We did do "stuff", though. Saturday she got here about 9:30 from her Mom's. I had picked up some new duck tape for her... She was so excited. She immediately sat down and started creating bracelets, necklaces, rings, etc... but not with the penguin duck tape... She is using it conservatively.... VERY conservatively. Ha. So, she counted up the rolls of duck tape she has at our house and it's a little sad... poor thing... I don't know how she can create anything at all... she only has 28 rolls here, plus what is at her Grandma's and Mom's. Crazy... but she loves it and she' very creative with it.
Let's see... after duck tape, I made lunch.. homemade chicken nuggets and homemade french fries (don't judge me on my "healthy choice"). The girl did a toy hunt for Newman, the adorable yellow tabby kitten. Then, she made herself the ultimate toy hunting stick. I was quite impressed. She asked if she could have a spring rod from under my bed (long story... had to get a cat out from under there one night and just left the stick as I chased her down... she needed medication and let's say it was an adventure... ha). She wrapped it in duck tape, made a basket type glove on one end and a narrower shovel type design on the other. It's amazing. After lunch, we scrapbooked!!! BOTH of us... for like 3 hours!!! I was so excited to craft with my sidekick. We haven't done that in so long I had forgotten how much it is. I love that girl! Then... to the store and back home to make dinner (chicken enchiladas, salsa, guacamole, and chips). It was pretty good. The enchiladas came from Sam's, actually... not homemade. My awesome husband did make the guac, though. We ended the night watching the NASCAR race and snuggling on the couch. Great day!!
Sunday was just as good, really. We slept in. Stayed in our PJs all day. The girl did her homework and then we realized a huge homework assignment is due while we will be in Florida, so we called her teacher to see if we could work on it. She said it was fine to do it early, so I spent 4 hours (yes... 4 hours) explaining to the girl how to use PowerPoint and do research online about her subject (Juliette Gordon Low). She also had a book. We ended up with 12 or 13 slides. I'll post it, if I get it saved into a movie format. It turned out really good and she did most of it. I did end up helping her with some of the typing, but she dictated all of it and chose her photos and put the slides in order, did the animations, etc. I think she learned a LOT about computers and software. I can not believe she stayed with it for as long as she did. She ended up with about 5 1/2 hours in it with research, building, and testing. We made meatballs (baked) and french bread and Chris made sauce... all earlier in the day. Dinner was spaghetti and meatballs with homemade french bread... YUMMO!!! The rest of the evening we were on the couch watching Wheeler Dealers and Frozen Planet. I love that the girl is old enough now to enjoy shows that are not animated, although Sponge Bob is still on the list of greats with her. HA!
I can't even remember the last time I stayed in my PJs all day and went to bed in the same clothes I got up in. Ha! It was such a great, relaxing weekend. I so needed that, too.
Now... 11 days and we'll be leaving for WDW!! YIPPEE!!
Happy crafting!
